According to the 2010 United States Census, Indiana had an estimated population of 6,484,000.  Of these residents, about 24.8 percent were under 18 years of age, 62.2 percent were between 18 and 65 years old, and 13.0 percent were over 65 years old.  Roughly 49.2 percent of the state's population were males and 50.8 percent were females.  The median age of Indiana residents was 37.0 years, compared to the median age of 37.2 years for all United States residents.
